HOW COMPARISONS WORK
See which issues two omnibuses have in common before you buy.
THE CONCEPT
Double Check Comics helps you spot duplicated material between omnibus editions before you buy. You can compare two specific omnibuses, or start with one book and find every other omnibus in the database that shares issues with it.
Search by title and choose an omnibus from the suggested publications. Searching by author generally only works when their name is part of the omnibus title.
WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM
For information about the comic data used in comparisons, see the Data & credits page.
EDITIONS AND REPRINTS
Some omnibuses have multiple printings, covers, or editions, which are recorded separately
in the Grand Comics Database.
Where those records represent the same collected book, Double Check Comics treats them as
a single publication so duplicate editions do not appear separately in search results.
WHAT THE RESULTS MEAN
An overlap means that two omnibuses include content from the same original issue.
On a comparison, a shared issue appears in both selected omnibuses, while a unique issue appears in only one of them.
On Find Overlaps, shared issues are issues from your selected omnibus that also appear in at least one other omnibus. Unique issues are not found in any of the matching omnibuses.
WHAT COUNTS AS AN ISSUE
An issue appears in the count if the omnibus includes any "story" content from it. This may include partial issues, such as selected stories or individual pages.
Marvel’s own collection descriptions use phrases such as “collecting material from” when describing partial issues that are included in an omnibus. That can mean selected stories or pages, rather than a complete reprint of every listed issue.
A shared issue does not necessarily mean that both omnibuses reproduce the exact same pages, or that either one reproduces the complete original issue. So in these cases this tool may show an overlap where none actually exists.
WHAT'S EXCLUDED
Double Check Comics does not include issues where the only content linked to the omnibus is covers, illustrations, advertisements, letters pages or similar extras.
WHEN THE DATA IS UNCLEAR
Source data can sometimes be incomplete or inconsistent. When the type of linked content cannot be identified due to a data gap, Double Check Comics includes the issue rather than excluding it. In these cases a cover-only inclusion within an omnibus could mistakenly appear in the count.
